Yield: 4 servings
|4 slices||White or whole wheat bread|
|2 cups||Cooked vegetables; chopped and drained carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, or a combo|
|¼ cup||Green onion; thinly sliced|
|1½ cup||Chicken; cooked, diced OR- ham -OR- turkey|
|1 cup||Cheddar -OR- Swiss cheese; shredded|
|1 teaspoon||Worcestershire sauce|
Trim crusts from bread, if desired, and spread lightly with butter, then cut each slice into 4 triangles. Arrange 8 of the triangles, butter side up, in a Well-buttered 8" square baking dish. Evenly top with your choice of vegetables, the onion, meat and cheese.
Decoratively arrange remaining bread triangles, butter side down, on top. Stir together the eggs, milk, Worcestershire, Tabasco and salt.
Pour over bread; press lightly with a fork to be sure egg mixture is absorbed. Sprinkle with paprika. Cover and chill 4 hours or overnight. Bake, uncovered, in a 375~ oven for 35-40 minutes or until set when dish is gently jiggled. Let stand 10-15 minutes before serving. Makes 4-6 servings. Submitted By BOBBI ZEE On 04-16-95
