California style barbecue sauce

Measure Ingredient
¾ cup Granulated sugar
½ cup Japanese soy sauce
½ cup Tomato catsup
½ cup Dry sherry
3 cloves Garlic; crushed
1 teaspoon Ground ginger
½ teaspoon Pepper; freshly ground

Recipe by: National Cowboy Hall of Fame Chuck Wagon Cookbook 1. In a medium bowl, stir all ingredients until combined. Ccver and refrigerate until ready to use. (The sauce can be prepared up to 3 days ahead, covered, and refrigerated.) Note: This sauce shows the influence of Asian ranch cooks. Makes about 1½ cups
