Quick saucy hamburgers - sl 3/82

Ingredients

| 1½ | pounds | Ground beef |
| 2 | tablespoons | Dry onion soup mix |
| ¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Pepper |
| 2 | tablespoons | All-purpose flour |
| 1 | tablespoon | Vegetable oil |
| 1 | tablespoon | Onion; chopped |
| 1 | tablespoon | Green pepper; chopped |
| 1 | clove | Garlic; minced |
| 8 | ounces | Can tomato sauce |
| ¼ | cup | Catsup |
| 1 | teaspoon | Worcestershire sauce |
| 1 | dash | Hot sauce |
| 1 | Bay leaf | |
| ½ | teaspoon | Chili powder |
| 6 | Hamburger buns; split and toasted | |
Directions
: Combine first 4 ingredients; and shape into 6 balls; roll in flour, and flatten slightly. Heat oil in a large skillet; add patties, and brown on both sides. Remove hamburger patties, and set aside; drain off pan drippings, reserving 1 tablespoon in skillet.
: Add onion, green pepper, and garlic to pan drippings; cook until tender. Stir in next 6 ingredients. Add patties; cover and simmer 15 minutes. Turn patties; cover and continue to cook 10 minutes. Remove bay leaf; serve patties with buns [and favorite condiments and accessories, of course]. Yield: 6 sandwiches.
