Green goddess salad dressing

Ingredients

1cupMayonaise
½cupCommercial sour cream
cupFinely minced parsley
3tablespoonsFinely minced chives or green onions
3tablespoonsAnchovy paste or finely minced anchovies
3tablespoonsTarragon wine vinegar
1tablespoonLemon juice
1Clove garlic; crushed or grated
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
2 cups dressing.

Directions

Combine all ingredients. Chill; it mellows and thickens on standing. Makes I found this recipe in an old Betty Crocker cookbook and it says, "Most popular at a large San Francisco hotel. Especially delicious on salad greens and sea food. For a milder flavored thicker dressing ,omit vinegar.
