2 | cans | Pinto beans or black beans, rinsed, drained and mashed (15 oz) |
1 | cup | Pace Picante Sauce |
1 | teaspoon | Ground cumin |
1 | teaspoon | Chili powder |
½ | teaspoon | Garlic salt |
1 | cup | Shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese (4 oz) |
½ | cup | Chopped mixed red and green bell peppers |
Chopped tomato | ||
Sliced ripe olives | ||
Chopped cilantro | ||
Chopped avocado |
OPTIONAL GARNISHES
Made in minutes in the microwave, this creamy bean dip boasts big, bold, crowd-pleasing flavors and serape-bright colors - just right for a party.
Place cream cheese in 1½ to 2 quart microwaveable bowl; microwave at HIGH 30-45 seconds or until softened. Add mashed beans, ½ of the Pace Picante Sauce, cumin, chili powder and garlic salt; mix well.
Spread into 9" pie plate or shallow microwaveable bowl. Top evenly with remaining ½ cup Pace Picante Sauce. Sprinkle with ½ cup of the cheese and bell peppers. Cover loosely with wax paper. Microwave 4-5 minutes or until hot, turning plate ¼ turn after 2 minutes.
Sprinkle with remaining cheese and garnish as desired. Serve warm with chips or vegetable dippers. Makes 6-8 servings.
