Pan-barbecued steak

Ingredients

½teaspoonSalt (or garlic salt)
½teaspoonPepper
3tablespoonsShortening
1eachOnion; chopped
1tablespoonCelery seed
1cloveGarlic; chopped
4tablespoonsBrown sugar
4tablespoonsPrepared mustard
3tablespoonsWorcestershire sauce
2tablespoonsLemon juice
1can(10-3/4 oz) tomato soup

Directions

Sprinkle steak with salt and pepper. Melt shortening in heavy skillet; brown steak with onion, celery

seed and garlic. Add remaining ingredients; simmer, covered, for 1-½ hours. Check after 45 minutes; add a little water if necessary, and stir.
