Palouse soup mix

Measure Ingredient
2½ cup Green split peas -- (16 oz
\N \N Pkg)
2½ cup Lentils -- (16 oz pkg)
2½ cup Pearl barley -- (16 oz pkg)
2 cups Macaroni OR -- (8 oz pkg )
2 cups Brown rice
½ cup Celery flakes -- (3/8 oz)
½ cup Parsley flakes -- (1/4 oz)
½ teaspoon Thyme
½ teaspoon White pepper

Mix all ingredients together. Store in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Stir before using.

To give as a gift. Present these instructions on a nice card: Combine 1 cup of soup mix with 4 cups of water or seasoned stock in a large pan. Add 1 cup of cooked chopped meat, if desired. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover pan. Simmer gently for 45 to 50 minutes, or until peas are tender. Add ½ teaspoon of salt if desired.
