For this one you must find a Mexican or Latin American grocery. Look for chocolate beverage blocks made by Ibarra. The round molded confection is made up of cocoa, sugar, ground almonds, and cinnamon. Two wedges are broken off and they are melted with milk. You then use a wooden chocolate whipper called a molinillo to mix the drink and put a bit of froth on the top. The mixer, the molinillo, goes back hundreds of years . . . but I use my food blender. Heat two wedges of chocolate for each cup of milk. When it is hot pour into the blender and whip for just a moment. My sons, Channing and Jason, are much more likely to come to the breakfast table on a cold winter morning if I threaten them with Mexican chocolate drink.
