½ | cup | Brown sugar |

¾ | teaspoon | Salt |
¾ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
1 | cup | Chocolate chips |

Preheat oven to 350 and grease 9x13 pan. Base: In a bowl combine dates and 1 tsp baking soda and pour boiling water over. Stir and let cool. In another bowl beat the eggs. Add the butter and sugar and beat until well blended. Stir in the cooled date mixture. Sift together flour, salt, and ¾ tsp baking soda and stir into the date mixture. Batter will be thin and runny. Pour batter into greased pan. Topping: Mix together brown sugar, walnuts and chocolate chips and sprinkle evenly over batter. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted come out clean.
