Chewy coconut bars

| 1¼ | cup | Pillsbury's Best All-Purpose Flour*, sifted |
| ½ | teaspoon | Double-acting baking powder |
| ½ | teaspoon | Soda |
| ½ | teaspoon | Salt |
| ½ | teaspoon | French's cinnamon |
| ¼ | teaspoon | French's nutmeg |
| ½ | cup | Butter |
| 1 | cup | Firmly packed brown sugar |
| 1 | Egg; unbeaten | |
| 1 | teaspoon | French's vanilla |
| 1 | cup | Quick-cooking rolled oats |
| 1 | cup | Coconut |
| ½ | cup | Funsten's Nuts; chopped |
| Confectioners' sugar | ||
Directions
Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 4 dozen. Sift together dry ingredients. Cream butter then gradually add brown sugar creaming well. Add egg and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients. Stir in oats, coconut, and nuts.
Spread in well-greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 12 to 15 minutes. Before serving, cut into bars and roll in confectioners' sugar. *For use with Pillsbury's Best Self-Rising Flour, omit baking powder and salt. Decrease soda to ¼ teaspoon.
