Quick coconut bars
1 Servings
Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
1 | Box small one-layer white cake mix (or 1/2 of a 2-layer cake mix, about 2 cups) | |
3 | tablespoons | Butter |
1½ | cup | Miniature marshmallows |
1 | pack | (6 oz) chocolate chips |
1 | can | (3 1/2 oz) shredded coconut |
1 | cup | Broken mixed nuts (I used a mixture of almonds and walnuts, anything would work here) |
1 | can | (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk |
Heat oven to 350. In oven, melt butter in baking pan, 9x13⅕ inches. Tilt pan to coat bottom with butter. Sprinkle dry cake mix over butter. In order listed, sprinkle marshmallows, chocolate chips, coconut and nuts on cake mix. Pour milk evenly over top. Bake about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Run knife around edges to loosen. Cool. Cut into bars, 1½ by 1 inch. Makes 6 dozen bars.
My note: I found that at 350 in my oven it tended to brown too quickly. I had to lower the cooking temperature 25 degrees half-way through the baking time. But my oven tends to be strange....is too hot for some things, not for others. So I have to check...I'd recommend checking the bars half way through to see how they're doing.
