Apple mincemeat fingers

2cupsAll-purpose flour
1teaspoonBaking soda
¼teaspoonSalt
1teaspoonNutmeg
2cupsRolled oats
1cupBrown sugar packed
1Square unsweetened chocolate
Melted
2tablespoonsSoft butter
tablespoonMilk
1cupButter
3cupsApples peeled & chopped
1cupMincemeat
1cupNuts chopped
½cupWhite sugar
1cupIcing sugar, sifted
1pinchSalt
¼teaspoonVanilla or 1 tb rum.

Directions

CHOCOLATE GLAZE

Sift together flour, soda, salt & nutmeg. Add the oats, brown sugar & butter. Mix until grainy. Put ½ mixture in greased pans (two square pans) Spread apples on top then mincemeat. Dot the whole with 3 tb.

Bake at 300 for 1 hr. and 15 minutes. If used, spread glaze while warm.

Origin: Mme Benoit, one of Quebec's popular chefs. Mme Benoit is not known for low-fat recipes. I would make this for Christmas. A great way to use extra mincemeat.
