½ cup | Margarine |
2 ounces | Unsweetened baking chocolate |
1 cup | Sugar |
2 \N | Eggs, well-beaten |
8 ounces | Crushed pineapple, well drained |
½ teaspoon | Vanilla extract |
1 cup | Sifted flour |
½ teaspoon | Baking powder |
¼ teaspoon | Baking soda |
¼ teaspoon | Salt |
½ cup | Chopped nuts |
Preheat oven to 350oF. Melt shortening and chocolate together in top of double boiler over hot water. Blend in sugar. Remove from heat; blend in eggs, pineapple and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together into a separate bowl. Add to pineapple mixture; blend well. Stir in chopped nuts.
Pour batter into well-greased, 8" square pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
Cool in pan for 5 minutes; cut into squares, remove brownies from pan, and cool on wire rack.
