Light brownies

Yield: 6 servings

Measure Ingredient
⅓ cup Butter, or replace with: Shortening mixed with Hot water
1 cup Brown sugar
1 each Egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 cup Flour
½ teaspoon Baking powder
⅛ teaspoon Baking soda
4 ounces Semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ teaspoon Salt
½ cup Chopped nuts, optional

Melt butter (or shortening with water) in sauce pan over medium heat.

Remove from heat, add to brown sugar and mix well. Allow mixture to cool. Stir in egg and vanilla. Add remaining dry ingredients and mix well. Pour mixture into greased baking pan (8x8 or 11x7).

Bake at 350 deg. F for 20 to 25 minutes.
