Orange date bread

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Butter or margarine --
Softened
2 cups Sugar
3 Eggs -- beaten
4 cups All-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1⅓ cup Buttermilk
1 cup Walnuts -- chopped
1 cup Dates -- chopped
1 tablespoon Grated orange peel
GLAZE:
¼ cup Orange juice
½ cup Sugar
2 tablespoons Grated orange peel

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar Add eggs; mix well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Fold in walnuts, dates and orange peel. Pour into two greased and floured 8-½-in. x 4-½-in. x 2-½-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350 deg. for 50-65 minutes or until done. Combine glaze ingredients; spoon half over hot bread Cool for 10 minutes.
