5 teaspoons | Baking powder |
1½ teaspoon | Salt |
¼ teaspoon | Baking soda |
1½ cup | Graham or whole wheat flour |
1 cup | Sliced dates |
1 cup | Coarsely chopped nuts |
½ cup | Brown sugar |
1½ cup | Milk |
¼ cup | Molasses |
Pit dates and cut into 5 or 6 slices with scissors or sharp knife.
Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Add sugar, milk, and molasses. Add graham flour in which dates and nuts have been dredged. Beat until thoroughly mixed. Pour into well-oiled loaf pan. Bake in moderate oven (375ø F) 1 hour. 1 loaf.
