Yield: 6 Servings
|⅔ cup||Fine; dry bread crumbs|
|2 tablespoons||*grated* onion; use juice|
|½ teaspoon||Ground sage|
|2 pounds||Ground beef|
|2 tablespoons||Brown sugar|
|1 teaspoon||Dry mustard|
|¼ teaspoon||Ground nutmeg|
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, "sifting" through with very clean fingers. Don't overwork it - or the meat gets tough. Sort of form it, then carefully place into the crockpot. Cover and cok on low for 5 to 6 hours.
Combine the sauce ingredients and then pour over the meat. Cover and cook on high for 15 minutes longer. Remove, slice, and serve. I always make extra topping, heat it up a little in the microwave, and serve on the side.
I tell ya...you could just drink that topping! Posted to TNT Recipes Digest by Patricia McGibbony-Mangum <pmangum@...> on Mar 20, 1998
