Measure | Ingredient |

5 cups | Peeled; sliced apples |
¾ cup | Sugar |
2 tablespoons | All-purpose flour |
½ teaspoon | Ground cinnamon |
¼ teaspoon | Salt |
¼ cup | Water |
1 teaspoon | Vanilla extract |
1 tablespoon | Butter or margarine; softened |
½ cup | All-purpose flour |
½ cup | Sugar |
½ teaspoon | Baking powder |
¼ teaspoon | Salt |
2 tablespoons | Butter or margarine; softened |
1 \N | Egg; slightly beaten |
Combine the first 7 ingredients; mix gently. Spoon into lightly greased 9-inch square baking pan; dot with 1 tablespoon butter. Set aside.
Combine remaining ingredients; mix well, and spoon over apple mixture in 9 equal portions (batter will spread during baking). Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Yields 6 servings.
