Cheesy beef burgers

Ingredients

| 1½ | pounds | Ground beef | 
| ½ | cup | Fine, dry breadcrumbs; divided | 
| 1 | each | Egg; beaten | 
| 2 | tablespoons | Commercial barbecue sauce | 
| ¾ | teaspoon | Salt | 
| 1 | cup | (4 oz) sharp Cheddar cheese; shredded | 
| ¼ | cup | Green pepper; chopped | 
| 2 | tablespoons | ;water | 
Directions
Combine beef, ¼ cup breadcrumbs, egg, barbecue sauce, and salt, mixing well; shape into a 14" x 8" rectangle on a sheet of waxed paper. Combine remaining ¼ cup breadcrumbs, cheese, green pepper, and water, mixing well; press gently into meat mixture, leaving a ½" margin around edges.
Beginning at short end, roll up meat jellyroll fashion, lifting waxed paper to help in rolling.  Press edges and ends together to seal. Cover and chill 1 hour.
Cut roll into 6 slices.  Arrange slices on rack of a lightly greased broiler pan.  Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until desired degree of doneness.  Yield: 6 servings.
