Celery-apple dressing for turkey

2cupsApples; peeled and chopped
1cupCelery; chopped
1mediumOnion; chopped
cupButtter (or shortening)
1teaspoonSalt
teaspoonPepper
6cupsBread cubes, stale
2tablespoonsWater; or liquid from cooked giblets

Directions

Prepare apples. Saute celery and onion in butter; add salt and pepper, bread and apples. Sprinkle with water. More moisture will come from the apples, and the cooked dressing will not be dry. Mix dressing well and stuff turkey. Yield: enough for a 10 to 12 pound turkey.
