Tutti-fruitti squares

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Sugar
3 Eggs, well beaten
1 cup Chopped dates
¼ cup Diced candied pineapple
3 tablespoons Melted shortening
½ teaspoon Salt
¾ cup Flour
1 cup Chopped nuts
¼ cup Chopped candied orange peel
1½ teaspoon Baking powder

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat until light. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder and salt. Add fruits and nuts alternately with dry ingredients to first mixture. Mix thoroughly. Pour into shallow, well-oiled pan. Bake in slow oven (325 F) about 30 minutes. Cool. Cut in squares and dip in powdered sugar. 12 servings. Mrs. C.E. Rundquist, Orchard, NE.
