Ingredients

cupBoiling water
1Or 2 cinnamon sticks broken in pieces
1teaspoonAllspice, whole
½teaspoonWhole cloves
1Zest of 1 orange or lemon
1teaspoonMaple extract; optional
¼teaspoonAlmond extract

Directions

Cover and let steep for several hours. Taste to see if spicy enough and if so strain into container with cover. Stir in maple and almond extracts. Store in refrigerator. Makes 2 cups.

(Author's Note) Try this and store-bought syrup will not satisfy you again. Recipe is flexible and you should feel free to adjust to your taste by varying the flavors.
