Savory spaghetti sauce

Measure Ingredient
1 pounds Ground beef
1 large Onion -- chopped
2 cans Tomato sauce -- 15 ounces

1 each Garlic clove -- minced
1 each Bayleaf
1 tablespoon Fresh basil -- minced
\N \N Or l teaspoon dried basil
2 teaspoons Fresh oregano -- minced
\N \N Or 3/4 teaspoon dried
\N \N Oregano
2 teaspoons Sugar
½ teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Pepper
\N \N Hot cooked spaghetti
\N \N Fresh oregano, optional

In a Dutch oven, cook ground beef and onion until meat is browned and onion is tender; drain. Add the next eight ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Remove the bay leaf. Serve over spaghetti. Garnish with oregano if desired.
