Measure | Ingredient |

2 pounds | Ground beef |
2 \N | Eggs, slightly beaten |
½ teaspoon | Salt |
¼ teaspoon | Pepper |
¼ cup | Finely chopped onion (optional) |
½ cup | Fresh fine bread crumbs |
3 tablespoons | Margarine |
¼ pounds | Fresh mushrooms, sliced |
1 tablespoon | Oil |
1½ cup | Beef Broth |
2 tablespoons | Flour |
Combine first 5 ingredients in mixing bowl. Shape into oval patties.
Sprinkle both sides of patties with bread crumbs, and >> press crumbs into patties. Chill in refrigerator at least 30 minutes. Melt 2 Tbsps. margarine in a hot, heavy skillet. Saute mushrooms. Remove them from skillet; add oil and remaining margarine. Add patties, and brown. Remove to a platter. Add broth to pan drippings. Blend flour with a small amount of cold water to form a paste. Add to skillet, and bring to a boil, stirring until smooth and thick. Add mushrooms and stir. Add steaks, and simmer until done, about 20 minutes.
