| 1½ | cup | Yellow cornmeal |
| 1½ | cup | Rye flour |
| 2 | teaspoons | Baking soda |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt |
| 2 | Eggs | |
| 1 | cup | Buttermilk |
| ¾ | cup | Dark molasses |
Directions
Arrange 2 racks in oven. On low one place a baking pan and fill with hot water. Heat oven to 200. Generously grease other pan with drippings. In large bowl mix well: meal, flour, baking soda and salt.
In small bowl beat eggs; stir in milk, then molasses. Pour liquid into dry and stir just until moistened. Do not overbeat. Pour batter into pan and smooth out. Cover with a baking sheet. Place on top rack directly above water. Bake 12 hours. (It will be ready after 4, but the old-timers seemed to feel "the longer the better".) File
