Raisin-oatmeal brownies

Yield: 8 Servings

Measure Ingredient
¾ cup Oats; Quick-cooking Rolled
6 ounces Chocolate Chips; Semisweet
6 tablespoons Butter Or Margarine
½ cup Brown Sugar; Packed
2 eaches Eggs; Large
1 teaspoon Vanilla
¾ cup Flour; Unbleached
½ cup Raisins
¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
¼ teaspoon Salt

Sprinkle 2 T of the oats over bottom of greased 9 X 9 X 2-inch baking pan; set aside. In saucepan melt chocolate and butter over low heat; stir constantly. Remove from heat; blend in sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir together flour, remaining oats, raisins, soda and salt; stir into chocolate mixture. Spoon into prepared pan. Bake at 325 degrees F. about 30 minutes. Cool; cut into bars.

Makes 24 brownies.
