Neither cake nor candy ( brownies )

Measure Ingredient
1½ \N Chocolate, unsweetened, squa
1 cup Sugar
½ cup Flour
½ cup Raisins, chopped
2 tablespoons Butter
2 \N Egg, well beaten
1 teaspoon Vanilla
½ cup Nuts, chopped

Melt chocolate and butter together over hot water. Add the sugar and vanilla; mix well. Then add the well beaten eggs. Sift the flour and stir in with the nuts and raisins. Bake in a well-greased shallow pan at 350-F for 20 minutes. When cool, cut in squares. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.
