Holiday fruits in rum

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Dried apricots
1 cup Dried pitted cherries
4 tablespoons Dark rum
1 cup Simple syrup
2 cups Water
1 cup Sugar

Place half apricots in bottom of quart canning jar. Make a second layer with half cherries. Repeat. layers. Spoon rum over. Slowly pour warm syrup over. Close and let stand at room temperature. These are just wonderful all by themselves or served over vanilla low-fat yogurt ice cream.
