4 tablespoons | Water |
2 \N | Eggs;separated |
1 pinch | Salt |
1 large | Carton Cool Whip |
½ cup | Nuts; chopped |
½ \N | Regular Angel Food Cake |
\N \N | Grated semisweet chocolate |
Melt chocolate chips with water in top of double boiler (over hot, not boiling water). Beat egg yolks. Add chocolate mixture to eggs a little at a time, stirring constantly. Add salt. Cool. Beat egg whites until stiff.
Fold into chocolate-egg mixture. Fold in about ¾ of the carton of Cool Whip. Fold in nuts. Break angel food cake into bite size pieces. Put a layer of cake in a large rectangular casserole, then a layer of the chocolate mixture over the cake. Repeat layers. Then spread remaining Cool Whip over all. chill at least 2 hours. Cut into squares to serve. Sprinkle grated chocolate on top. Yield 10 to 12 servings.
