For the person who was looking for the world's best -- these are from my grandmother.
Cream Crisco and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and soda and add. Add oatmeal, nuts and chocolate chips to creamed mixture. Drop by teaspoonsful onto baking sheet. Bake at 350F, 12-15 minutes.
