Bean burgers

Yield: 8 servings

Measure Ingredient
4 \N Slices whole wheat bread
16 ounces No-fat refried beans
1 cup Cooked brown rice or millet
¼ cup Oats
¼ cup Tomato paste
½ teaspoon Garlic powder
½ teaspoon Salt (opt)
1 tablespoon Arrowroot (cornstarch)
3 teaspoons Minced onion/and parsley
\N \N (optional)

Process bread, one slice at a time, in a bry blender to form soft curmbs. Mix all ingredients together well. Form into 8 patties. Brown on each side in a vegetable oil sprayed non-stick skillet. Seve as is or on whole wheat buns with the works. (I substituted 1 cup of bread crumbs for the bread, ¼ cup ketchup for the tomato paste.)
