Bean burgers

| 4 | Slices whole wheat bread | |
| 16 | ounces | No-fat refried beans |
| 1 | cup | Cooked brown rice or millet |
| ¼ | cup | Oats |
| ¼ | cup | Tomato paste |
| ½ | teaspoon | Garlic powder |
| ½ | teaspoon | Salt (opt) |
| 1 | tablespoon | Arrowroot (cornstarch) |
| 3 | teaspoons | Minced onion/and parsley |

Directions
Process bread, one slice at a time, in a bry blender to form soft curmbs. Mix all ingredients together well. Form into 8 patties. Brown on each side in a vegetable oil sprayed non-stick skillet. Seve as is or on whole wheat buns with the works. (I substituted 1 cup of bread crumbs for the bread, ¼ cup ketchup for the tomato paste.)
