Bean burgers

Ingredients

16ouncesNo-fat refried beans
1cupCooked brown rice or millet
¼cupOats
¼cupTomato paste
½teaspoonGarlic powder
½teaspoonSalt (opt)
1tablespoonArrowroot (cornstarch)
3teaspoonsMinced onion/and parsley
(optional)

Directions

Process bread, one slice at a time, in a bry blender to form soft curmbs. Mix all ingredients together well. Form into 8 patties. Brown on each side in a vegetable oil sprayed non-stick skillet. Seve as is or on whole wheat buns with the works. (I substituted 1 cup of bread crumbs for the bread, ¼ cup ketchup for the tomato paste.)
