Ingredients

16ouncesVegetarian refried beans, canned
1cupMillet or brown rice, cooked
¼cupOats, quick-cooking
¼cupTomato paste
½teaspoonGarlic powder
½teaspoonSalt
1tablespoonArrowroot
3teaspoonsOnion, finely minced, or parsley (optional)

Directions

Process bread, one slice at a time, in a dry blender to form soft crumbs. Mix all ingredients together well. Form into 8 patties. Brown on each side n a vegetable-oil sprayed non-stick skillet. Serve as is or on whole wheat buns with lettuce, sprouts and ketchup, if desired.
