Apple-oatmeal waffles

Ingredients

| 1 | teaspoon | Ground cinnamon |

| 1 | cup | Nonfat milk |
| ¼ | cup | Maple syrup |
| ¼ | cup | Orange juice |

| 1 | large | Egg |
| 3 | larges | Egg whites |
| ¾ | cup | Tart apples -- finely chop |
| ½ | cup | Raisins |

Directions
1. Spread oats on a baking sheet; toast in 350 oven, stirring occasionally, until golden (12-15 minutes). Mix oats, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and if desired, salt in a large bowl. In a medium sized bowl, beat milk, syrup, juice, egg and egg whites until blended. Stir in apple and raisins. Add egg mixture to flour mixture; stir until evenly moistened. 2. Preheat a waffle iron following manufacturer's directions. Grease iron; fill three-quarters full of batter. Bake until golden and crisp (6-8 minutes). Transfer to a plate and keep warm in a 200 degree oven while making remaining waffles.
Offer with butter and syrup. Makes about twelve 4- inch square waffles.
