Viennese sauerkraut with potato+

Ingredients

1mediumOnion, chopped
2tablespoonsBacon or pork fat
2cupsSauerkraut, (16 oz. can) drained, rinsed and liquid replaced by water
½teaspoonCaraway seeds
¾cupWhite wine
1mediumPotato, peeled and grated

Directions

Saute onion in fat until tender. Add remaining ingredients except potato. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes. Add grated potato and simmer for another 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
