Yield: 6 servings
|1 teaspoon||Cream of tartar|
|1½ \N||To 2 cups flour|
|½ teaspoon||Baking soda|
Cream shortening and sugar. Add well-beaten egg yolks. Sift flour.
Measure ½ cup and sift with cream of tartar, salt, and baking soda.
Combine with egg mixture. Mix thoroughly. Add stiffly beaten egg whites and flavoring. Add sufficient flour to make a soft dough.
Turn onto lightly floured board. Roll in sheet ⅛ inch thick. Cut with floured cutter. Place on slightly oiled baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (400 F) about 10 minutes. 50 servings. Sara Hentz, Newberry, S.C. Submitted By ROBERT MILES On 05-06-95
