Topped apple cake

Yield: 16 Servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Sugar
½ cup Brown sugar
1 cup Shortening
2 \N Eggs
2½ cup Flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 cup Sour milk
2 cups Apples -- peeled, chopped
\N \N ***TOPPING***
¼ cup Nuts
½ cup Sugar
½ teaspoon Cinnamon

Cream sugars and shortening together. Beat in eggs, mixing well. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and baking soda. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour milk to creamed mixture. Fold in apples. Pour into greased 9 x 13 baking pan. Topping: Stir together nuts, sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over cake. Bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes.
