Quaker's chocolate cherry thumbprints

Ingredients

| ⅔ | cup | Margarine or butter,softened |
| 2 | Eggs | |
| 1 | teaspoon | Vanilla |
| 2 | cups | Semi-sweet chocolate morsels |

| 2 | cups | Quaker Old Fashioned Oats, |
| Uncooked | ||
| 1½ | cup | All-purpose Flour |
| 1 | teaspoon | Baking Powder |
| ¼ | teaspoon | Salt (optional) |
| 2 | cups | Maraschino Cherries, drained |
| & patted dry | ||
Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth. Add 1 cup of morsels, melted*; mix well. Stir in oats, flour, baking powder & salt; mix well. Cover & chill dough for 1 hour. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press deep centers with thumb. Place maraschino cherry into each center. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until set.
Remove to wire rack; cool ccompletely. Drizzle cookies with remaining 1 cup chocolate morsels, melted.
To melt 1 cup chocolate morsels: Microwave at HIGH 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Or heat in heavy sauepan over low heat; stirring until smooth.
