Chocolate cherry thumbprints

Measure Ingredient
¾ cup Sugar
⅔ cup Margarine (1 stk + 3 tb.)
2 larges Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla
12 ounces Pkg. choc. chips (2 c.),
\N \N Divided
2 cups Oats (quick or old fash.)
1½ cup All purpose flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
¼ teaspoon Salt, optional
2 cups Maraschino cherries, 2 10-oz
\N \N Jars); drain patted dry
\N 1 cup of melted morsels.

Heat oven to 350 deg. Beat margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth. Add 1 Cup of morsels, melted. Mix well. Stir in oats, flour, baking powder and salt, mix well. Cover dough and chill 1 hour. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, press deep centers with thumb. (I use lg wooden spoon handle). Place a maraschino cherry into hole. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until set.

Remove to wire rack, cool completely. Drizzle cookies with remaining Note: To melt 1 cup of morsels, Microwave on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.
