Onions almondine

Ingredients

½cupButter
½cupBlanched; slivered almonds
1tablespoonDark brown sugar
2Cloves garlic; pressed
½teaspoonSalt
¼teaspoonPepper
¼cupDry white wine or sherry
4smallsDozen white onions; fresh or canned

Directions

Melt butter. Stir in almonds and brown sugar. Add pressed garlic, seasonings and wine. Add onions and stir until well coated. Cover and bake at 350ø for 1 hour, stirring or shaking pan occasionally to coat onions.

Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
