Mock crackling bread

Yield: 9 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Yellow cornmeal
1 cup All purpose flour
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 tablespoon Plus 1 ts baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
1½ cup Milk
¼ cup Shortening, melted
1 \N Egg, beaten
10 \N Slice bacon, cooked/crumbled
\N \N Creole Celery Sauce

Combine first six ingredients, add milk, shortening, and egg mixing well. Stir in bacon. Pour batter into a well greased 8 inch square pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares, and serve with Creole Celery Sauce.
