Mellow stew

Ingredients

| 1½ | pounds | Beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes |
| 2 | teaspoons | Cooking oil |
| 2 | cups | Water |
| ½ | cup | Ketchup |
| 3 | tablespoons | White vinegar |
| 3 | tablespoons | Brown sugar, packed |
| 2 | cups | Sliced carrot |
| 1 | cup | Chopped onion |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt |
| ¼ | teaspoon | Pepper |
Directions
Brown beef in cooking oil in large pot or Dutch oven.
Add water, ketchup, vinegar and brown sugar. Stir. Cover. Boil slowly for 1¼ hours.
