Maple syrup corn bread

Ingredients

| 1⅛ | cup | Corn meal; yellow |
| 1⅛ | cup | Wheat flour |
| 3 | teaspoons | Baking powder |
| ½ | teaspoon | Salt |
| ⅓ | cup | Maple syrup |
| 1 | each | Egg; well beaten |
| 1 | cup | Milk; sweet |
| 3 | tablespoons | Shortening |
Directions
Add shortening to syrup. Mix all ingredients. Pour into shallow, well greased pan. Bake 20 minutes in hot oven. Cut into squares and serve hot.
Note: Hot oven is 400 - 450 F.
