Wash the rind in a strainer & remove any left-on white. Cook the rind with 1 cup sugar & 1 cup water until mixture is thick & most of the syrup is gone. Beat eggs until light & add 1 cup sugar & milk. Sift dry ingredients together & add to the egg mixture. Combine all with butter, nuts & orange peel. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until done.
