2 | cups | All-purpose Flour |
½ | cup | Brown Sugar |
½ | cup | Unsalted Butter |
2 | pounds | Firm Berries; (About 10 cups) |
1 | cup | Granulated Sugar |
From: Perry Greene <palgreen@...> In a large bowl, combine softened butter lightly into the flour. Use your fingertips to rub the butter through the flour and mix. When it has the appearance of fine bread crumbs, add the brown sugar and repeat the crumbling process to mix. Clean the berries and cover with the crumble mixture in an oven-safe 9 x 13-inch baking dish, pressing the surface of the crumble down lightly. Bake for 45 minutes in the center of a pre-heated 350-F degree oven. Serve hot with cream.
Cooking Staff Tip: This dessert is easy to prepare and economical. The basic crumble recipe can be used for other fillings including rhubarb, apple or apple & blackberry. Make sure to peel and chunk the apples or rhubarb before baking. You may want to add a bit more sugar if you elect to prepare the rumble with rhubarb as its tartness varies greatly.
