Dried fruit oatmeal power bars

3 | cups | Quick-cooking oats |
½ | cup | Finely chopped dried pears |
½ | cup | Finely chopped dried cranberries |
¾ | cup | Butter or margarine |
1 | cup | Packed brown sugar |
¾ | teaspoon | Salt |
½ | teaspoon | Grated lemon rind |
1½ | tablespoon | Corn syrup |
1½ | teaspoon | Vanilla |

From: christi@... (Christi Wilson) Date: 9 Sep 1995 20:41:50 -0600 Vancouver Sun, November 2, 1994 In large bowl, combine oats and dried fruit; set aside. In large heavy saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in sugar, salt, lemon rind, corn syrup and vanilla; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat and stir in oat mixture. Turn into 13x9-inch baking pan; press mixture to form an even layer. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Cut into bars while still warm. Makes about 21 bars.
