| 30 | eaches | Tomatoes, medium-ripe |
| 12 | eaches | Tart apples, cored |
| 5 | eaches | Green peppers |
| 10 | eaches | Onions |
| 1 | quart | Cider vinegar |
| 3 | cups | Sugar |
| 5 | tablespoons | Salt |
| 1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
| ½ | teaspoon | Cayenne pepper |
Directions
Chop tomatoes, apples, peppers and onions. Mix together and add vinegar and sugar. Put into a large pot and simmer until soft. Press through a coarse sieve or colander. Blend in salt, cinnamon and cayenne and return to low heat. Simmer until ingredients thicken, about 1 hour. Makes 3 to 4 quarts. Source: The Farmers' Almanac Cook Book, Pocket Books, Inc., 1965.
