Ingredients

cupChopped dates
1teaspoonBaking soda
1cupBoiling water
1Egg
1cupSugar
1cupChopped nuts
cupFlour
1teaspoonVanilla
1pinchSalt

Directions

Dissolve sode in water; pour over dates. Add all other ingredients and blend well. Pour into loaf pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Place a pan of water in oven during baking.
