Canadian brown bread

Yield: 6 Servings

Measure Ingredient
1½ cup Chopped dates
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 cup Boiling water
1 Egg
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Chopped nuts
1½ cup Flour
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 pinch Salt

Dissolve sode in water; pour over dates. Add all other ingredients and blend well. Pour into loaf pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Place a pan of water in oven during baking.
