| 1 | small | Peeled onion; quartered |
| 4 | Whole cloves; up to 6 | |
| 1 | large | Apple; quartered |
| 3 | tablespoons | Vinegar |
| 1 | tablespoon | Sugar; up to 2 |
| 1 | tablespoon | Flour; up to 2 |
| 2 | tablespoons | Oil |

Combine cabbage, onion, cloves, apple, vinegar, ½ of sugar, and oil in a large pot or dutch oven. Add enough water to cover bottom of pot. Bring to a boil and simmer until tender. Dust w/ flour and remaining sugar before serving.
*note* makes a good amount!!
