Apricot coconut squares

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Sugar
2 cups Flour
¾ cup Butter
1 cup Coconut; flaked
1 Egg
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Jar; (10 oz.) apricot preserves

Notes: Peka Joe Daniels, Lansford, The Times, PA Mix together with fork all ingredients, except apricot preserves. Press ¾ of the batter in the bottom of a 9x13" pan. Spread apricot preserves on top. Spread rest of batter over apricot preserves with fork, letting some of the apricot show through. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes until a light golden brown. Cool and cut into squares.
