Apple-apricot bread

| 2 | cups | FLOUR, ALL-PURPOSE |
| 2½ | teaspoon | BAKING POWDER |
| ¼ | teaspoon | BAKING SODA |
| ½ | teaspoon | SALT |
| ½ | teaspoon | ALLSPICE |

| ½ | cup | SHORTENING |
| ¾ | cup | SUGAR |
| EGG, BEATEN | ||
| 1 | cup | APPLE, CHOPPED |
| ¾ | cup | WALNUTS, CHOPPED |
Directions
Pour boiling water over dried apricots and let stand. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt and allspice. Add milk to apricot juice to make ⅔ c.
Beat the shortening adding sugar gradually. Beat in the egg. Add dry ingredients alternately with the liquid. Fold in the fruit and walnuts.
Spoon into a greased and floured pan, 9x5. Bake in 350F oven for 1 hour.
Cool on rack.
