Apple-apricot bread

Measure Ingredient
⅔ cup WATER, BOILING
1 cup APRICOT, DICED
2 cups FLOUR, ALL-PURPOSE
2½ teaspoon BAKING POWDER
¼ teaspoon BAKING SODA
½ teaspoon SALT
½ teaspoon ALLSPICE
MILK
½ cup SHORTENING
¾ cup SUGAR
EGG, BEATEN
1 cup APPLE, CHOPPED
¾ cup WALNUTS, CHOPPED

Pour boiling water over dried apricots and let stand. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt and allspice. Add milk to apricot juice to make ⅔ c.

Beat the shortening adding sugar gradually. Beat in the egg. Add dry ingredients alternately with the liquid. Fold in the fruit and walnuts.

Spoon into a greased and floured pan, 9x5. Bake in 350F oven for 1 hour.

Cool on rack.
